The iiNet 1000 Hour Day Expedition: Chris Bray & Clark Carter – Victoria Island
These two young Australians have completed their ambitious trek across one of the largest islands on the planet. Victoria Island, Canada. This is a massive undertaking that is not only dangerous, but ground breaking. Huge swaths of Victoria Island are unexplored and have most likely never been seen by human eyes. If I were 20 years younger (and a whole lot more fit!) I would have jumped at the chance to be on such an expedition.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with just where they were “hiking”, Victoria Island is located in the Canadian high arctic. It is the 8th largest island in the world which makes it larger than Great Britain. Less than 2000 people live only two settlements, so the landscape is completely untouched.
I have had a love affair with the Canadian High Arctic since I was a kid. This is the sort of thing I used to, and still, dream about. Check out their website, check out their book. You won’t be disappointed.
